From 1990-3 he served in the United States Army as an Armor/Infantry Officer during Operation Desert Storm and a Supply Officer of the largest U.S. Army Humanitarian Depot in recent history in Homestead, Florida after Hurricane Andrew.

In 1993 Tom returned to the practice as Vice President.
